While here in Germany, I've been going through a transformation on how I look at the church, and its function. I've always had some kind of understanding, but lately I've been able to better articulate and make direct applications of a missiology mentality. Ed Setzer's book on Breaking the Missional Code has been a very helpful tool in articulating what I've always felt on the inside. It's basically looking at the surrounding community as though a missionary would to an African culture. . . using indigineous culture to birth a unique church that speaks to its people, rather than have the church birth some culture of its own (the church sub-culture).
